New BSPED Research Group
24 Feb 2026
BSPED is pleased to announce an important development in the Society’s research infrastructure. Following a review by the Executive Committee, the current Research Special Interest Group (SIG) will be re‑designated as the BSPED Research Group (RG). This new structure represents a positive step toward strengthening the Society’s support for high‑quality research in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes.
The move to a Research Group will provide a stronger, more formal governance framework while also creating new opportunities for BSPED members to contribute to the Society’s research agenda.
The newly established Research Group will:
- Operate as a separate group of BSPED members, reporting directly to the Executive Committee.
- Receive administrative support for three 90‑minute meetings per year.
- Be led by a Chair and deputy, appointed through an open application process.
- Invite expressions of interest for membership from both current SIG members and any other BSPED members wishing to join.
- Develop its own Terms of Reference and governance procedures.
- Have the ability to establish sub‑committees or working groups (e.g., website development, trainee research training, or other focused projects).
- Replace the existing SIG, which will now be formally disbanded.
- Undergo ongoing review by the Executive liaison.
A call for Chair / Deputy Chair and Group Members will come in the coming weeks so watch your email for information.
