Members of BSPED agree to abide by the rules set out in the BSPED Memorandum and Articles of Association and Byelaws, which can be found on the governance page of the website.

Our Membership is open to those actively engaged in the clinical care of children with endocrine disorders and diabetes mellitus and to those conducting research related to those problems. Membership is not open to employees of commercial firms nor to lay persons without professional qualifications.

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

Applications for membership will not be processed until receipt of a fully completed application form and payment of the membership fee. Please allow up to 7 working days for us to process your application upon receipt of your payment.

Final confirmation of BSPED membership is upon approval of the BSPED Executive Committee which convenes quarterly.

The Executive Committee may refuse an application for membership if, in their discretion, they consider it to be in the best interests of the Society to refuse the application. They shall not be required to give a reason for their decision.

MEMBERSHIP

Your BSPED membership will run for one year from the date you submit your application and make payment.

Membership fees may be paid as a one-off payment for the year, or as a recurring subscription payment (automated annual, via card or Direct Debit - from March 2024). Students may only make a one-off payment.

Refunds will not be given for cancelled membership.

Membership renewal notices will be sent during the last month of your current membership and as a BSPED member, you are expected to ensure that payment is effected in time. Members who have not paid their membership fee by their renewal date will be deemed lapsed members and will not receive their member benefits (including newsletter, discounted registration to the BSPED conference, access to the members’ section of the BSPED website, eligibility for awards and grants and committee membership).

Members whose membership has been allowed to lapse will not be eligible for a conference attendance grant within their first year of reapplication.

Members who are on parental leave or a career break for at least six months of the membership year may contact the membership team to request complimentary membership for that year. Complimentary membership will not be given for consecutive years.

STUDENT MEMBERS

Student members must be in full-time education and must self-certify their eligibility as part of the application process. Applicants with first degrees and studying for further qualifications are not eligible for the Student category of membership. BSPED reserves the right to request evidence of student status at application and renewal.

PERSONAL DETAILS

By applying for membership, you permit the BSPED and its professional secretariat provider Bioscientifica Limited to process your personal details.

As a BSPED member, you may opt in to receive mailings and email alerts from the BSPED on its own and related activities, including the useful monthly newsletter, via your online Members’ Area. You may unsubscribe from emails at any time by updating your email preferences in the Members’ Area.

Please note that if you do opt out of future emails, you will still receive essential BSPED emails relating to your membership, such as renewal reminders, AGM notices and agendas.

As a BSPED member, your contact details will be included in the online membership directory which is located within the password protected members’ section of the BSPED website. You may opt not to include your phone, email, job title and work location in the Members' Directory. The password protected members’ section is available to all fully paid-up BSPED members and enables your BSPED colleagues to contact you.

Please ensure that you update your member profile with your current email address, as all of our correspondence is via email.

In the event of any error in your payment, please contact the BSPED office.
Refunds will be made where appropriate, at the sole discretion of the BSPED.
