Membership subscriptions are collected annually and payment for the first year is required upon application. Please select the correct category from Clinician, Scientist, Nurse & Allied Health Professionals and career stage and then use the relevant 'Apply now'.
At payment, you can choose to make a one-off payment or set up an annual subscription (students may only select a one-off payment). In either case, you may pay via bank transfer (Direct Debit) or via card payment.
Membership categories:
Clinician Full
Clinical training completed - Post CCT – Medical doctor or clinically qualified and active in research
Clinician Non-Consultant
Clinical training completed. In post at non-consultant career grade, or Physician’s Associate band 8 or above
Clinician Early-Career
Clinical trainee at level CT1/ST1 onwards or Physician’s Associate up to band 7
Clinician Student
Medical student, or undifferentiated clinical trainee at one of the following levels: FY1, FY2
Clinician Retired
Open to any existing Full Member, who is retired from full time employment and all clinical practice
Scientist Full
Researchers who have not undertaken any clinical training, >10 years post PhD
Scientist Early Career
Up to 10 years post-graduate with no clinical training
Scientist Student
Undergraduate, PhD, or full-time Masters science students
Scientist Retired
Open to any existing Full Scientist member, who is retired from full time employment
Nurse Full
3 or more years’ experience in paediatric endocrine or diabetes nursing
Nurse Early Career
Nurses with up to 3 years’ experience in paediatric endocrine or diabetes nursing
Nurse Student
Undergraduate or full-time Masters nursing students
Nurse Retired
Open to any existing Full Nurse member, who is retired from full time employment and all clinical practice.
Allied Health Professional Full
Professionals who have been working in an allied field for more than 5 years. Now at band 5 and above
Allied Health Professional Early Career
Professionals who have been working in an allied field for less than 5 years or who are working at band 4 and below
Allied Health Professional Student
Undergraduate or full-time Masters students in an allied field
Allied Health Professional Retired
Open to any existing Allied Health Professional Member, who is retired from full time employment and all clinical practice
Membership is not open to employees of commercial firms nor to lay persons without professional qualifications.
Honorary Membership:
Honorary BSPED membership will occasionally be awarded by the Executive Committee to retired members who have made a significant contribution to the Society, and to the field of paediatric endocrinology and diabetes and have national and international recognition. Honorary members may be clinicians, scientists, nurses or allied health professionals.
If you would like to suggest a colleague for honorary membership, please write to the BSPED Office providing the name of the nominated member and the reasons they fulfil the criteria above.
Nominations will be reviewed by the Executive Committee on an annual basis. Honorary membership will not necessarily be granted every year.
