Purpose of award
To provide funding to:
- Conduct a small project (eg. development of patient resources)
- Purchase equipment for projects
- Conduct service evaluation requiring additional resources
- Facilitate attending a course or training opportunity that would deepen clinical knowledge/skills to benefit a local/regional/national service development
Applications may benefit patients, families, other health care professionals, schools or other groups.
Recipients may be required to write a report for the newsletter or create a poster presentation for the annual meeting.

- Two awards of £1500
- Recipients may be required to write a report for the newsletter or create a poster presentation for the annual meeting
- The winner/s supporting statement will be added to the BSPED website on the previous award winners page.
Prizes offered each year are dependent upon there being appropriate funds and financial stability within the society.
Eligibility Criteria
Entries for this award are welcome from all Paediatric Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHP) BSPED members involved in the care of children with endocrine or diabetes disorders.
- Applications will only be considered if they are submitted by an individual who has been a BSPED member for at least one year by the submission deadline date
- Nurses and AHPs who are in-training may apply if they hold a minimum of six months' membership or if their supervisor is a member of at least 1 year standing
- Nominees must be qualified professionals and registered to practise.
- Nominees must have undertaken or plan to undertake a project/ piece of work which demonstrates a measurable impact upon endocrine nursing/AHP care or practice.
- Relevant projects may cover any aspect of endocrine or diabetes care.
- Examples include: development of a resource for patients, clinic management initiative, best practice development, community liaison education, prescribing or medication management, use of technology to improve care, research innovation.
- The award should be used only for professional development, service development, or patient care.
- The award must be paid into an institutional, not a personal bank account.
- Winners from the two previous award rounds are not eligible to apply again.
Application and judging process
- Application form to be completed with a statement (under 1,000 words) detailing the significance and impact of the project. Please submit to the BSPED Office accompanied by a minimum of one piece of supportive evidence by 5pm Monday, 4 August 2025.
- The supportive evidence may be video, booklet or the abstract extended into a journal article. Originality is encouraged!
- The entries will be judged by a panel of nurses and allied health professionals.
- The decision of the judging panel is final and not subject to appeal.
