Welcome to Sheffield for the 52nd Annual Meeting of the British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes.
We had an incredibly successful BSPED in 2024 in Glasgow, where we examined how pooling of expertise helped to overcome challenges and unlock new opportunities at a local as well as an international level. This year’s theme is ‘Innovation in Paediatric Endocrinology’ which is particularly pertinent to Sheffield as building for the National Centre for Child Health Technology is underway, and due to the number of local experts in the field of developing and using new technology to advance healthcare.
The Programme Organising Committee are putting together an exciting scientific and clinically relevant programme as we move forwards in technology, treatments and personalised medicine. We will be covering a range of topics including the management of early diabetes, types 1 and 2 as well as current topics such as the use of new MC4R agonists, artificial intelligence and PCOS. We will also endeavour to look at the patient’s lived experience in some of these areas.
The meeting will be held at the Cutlers Hall, a notable, Grade II listed building, which was constructed in 1832 and is renowned as one of the finest livery halls in northern England. It is located in the heart of the city, opposite the impressive Sheffield Cathedral.
Sheffield is well connected by road, rail and air. We would encourage you to not just attend the meeting but make a weekend of it to discover or re-acquaint yourself with a vibrant city and its surrounds; where you can do anything from exploring historical landmarks like Chatsworth House and Kelham Island Industrial Museum or visiting Europe's largest purpose build food hall - Cambridge St Collective. There are many attractions in Sheffield, such as The National Videogame Museum, Magna, or nearby Peak District National Park. There is so much to explore, more ideas are available here: Visit Sheffield: The Outdoor City
We hope you will be able to join us in Sheffield in November and look forward to meeting old friends, making new friends and sharing the learning experience from speakers across the UK.
