The BSPED has developed the DKA integrated care pathway designed to be used by, or under the supervision of, clinicians experienced in the management of paediatric DKA. IT should be used in conjunction with the full BSPED DKA 2020 guidelines on which it is based.  These are general guidelines for management. Treatment may need modification to suit the individual patient.  These guidelines do not remove the need for frequent detailed reassessments of the individual patient’s requirements and specific treatment tailored to those requirements.
