The BSPED represents all health professionals involved in the care of children and teenagers with diabetes across the UK. We strive to improve diabetes care by the development of national clinical guidelines and audit, collaboration between diabetes centres across the UK and promote research into new treatments and advancements of diabetes care.

The BSPED is recognised by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health as the Society responsible for the care of children and young people with diabetes. The Society also has established links with other national and international societies in the field of diabetes.

We aim to foster a multi-professional approach to enhance the care of children and young people with diabetes in the UK. Our membership is open to all members of the diabetes team-consultants, diabetes specialist nurses, dieticians, psychologists and junior doctors.
