Paediatric endocrinology module for nurses
COMING SOON………..Development of a new paediatric endocrinology module for nurses is currently underway at Keele University. It is envisaged this will commence 2012/13 academic year
This will be worth 30 credits at first degree (level 6) or Masters level (level 7). The module will be through distance learning held over 30 weeks, incorporating 2 residential periods of 3 days (6 days total) during this time.
This module can be accessed as stand alone or as part of pathways toward a Graduate Certificate (Paediatric Endocrinology); Post graduate Certificate (Paediatric Endocrinology) or MSc in Advancing Professional Practice (Paediatric Endocrinology). These pathways are distinctive because they centre on the application of learning in the workplace and evidence based assessment of practice and achievement in order to relate the programme of study to the individual role of the nurse. On line and distance learning are utilised in the delivery of these programmes.
There are 10 bursaries available (covering course fees and accommodation) for BSPED members working within the NHS. Current course fee for 'stand alone’ 30 credit module at L6/7 is £830 (subject to change).
Nurses are also encouraged to attend the SfE Endocrine Nurse Update meeting run by the Society for Endocrinology. Further details will be listed once available.
