Each year the BSPED offers a limited number of small project grants that are intended to promote and support academic research by its members. The grants are intended to support endocrinologists and trainees in a number of ways. Specifically they are meant to provide:
The grants are dependent upon there being appropriate financial stability within the society.
There will be one deadline per year with grants awarded at the annual autumn BSPED meeting. A call for applications will occur well in advance of the deadline and application will be judged by the Grants Panel selected by the Executive Committee of the BSPED. Panelists will not be permitted to judge any application from their own institution. Applications will be scored by five external and independent reviewers. Clinical and basic research will be given equal priority. There will usually be two awards for £15,000 but this will ultimately be at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
